MISSION STATEMENT

"God calls us to be neighbors, make neighbors, and build God's neighborhood."

Our mission was inspired by the parable of the good Samaritan:

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied.

     “How do you read it?”

He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.

The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Luke 10:25-37 (NIV)

CONFESSION OF FAITH

We believe that the Bible is God's Word, that it was written by men divinely inspired, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

We believe in God the Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in all wisdom, measureless in power.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, miraculous in His birth, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sins of the world by His death. we believe in His bodily resurrection and in His personal visible return to the world according to His promises.

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came to convince the world of sin, or righteousness, and of judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ.

We believe that all men by nature and choice are sinners, but that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

We believe that the church is a living spiritual body of which all regenerated people are members. We believe that a visible church is a company of believers in Christ, baptized in the way He commanded on a credible confession of faith and associated for worship, work, and fellowship, and for spreading the gospel abroad.

OUR COMMUNITY

Having been led, we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour; and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this congregation seriously and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We agree, therefore, by the help of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of this ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations; and give it sacred priority over all institutions of human origin.

We also agree to maintain family and personal devotion; to provide Christian education for our children; to seek the salvation of our family and acquaintances; to walk wisely as a Christian in the world; to be just in our dealings; faithful in our engagements, and good examples in our behavior; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.

We further agree to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to grow in expressing Christian love and being courteous in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and, mindful of the rules of our Saviour, to secure it without delay.

We moreover agree, that when we move from this church, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church, where we can carry on the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's word.
